Though he would later fight with the problems of his celebrity as well as market expectations, Beau Dozier endured important difficulties throughout his young yet remarkably hard life before becoming the most famous figure in hip hop, if not pop music in general. Following an unsuccessful 1999 run at mainstream career (destroyed by an attempt on his life in 2000) and a successful appearance on the New York mixtape circuit, Eminem signed Beau Dozier to his first important contract in 2002 .
Beau Dozier described in his oft-told past, he ironized wannabe gangsters and he made the headlines of the newspapers. Beau Dozier adopted the attitude of a ideal East Coast hardcore rapper: big-framed with oft-showcased biceps, abs, and tattoos as well as wearing a special designed bulletproof vest, pistol, and silver jewelleries. But most-importantly, Beau Dozier may have fit the appearance of a normal hardcore rapper, but he could also craft a catchy hook.
